Bambi's story
Meet Bambi.  This gorgeous girl was found as a stray in rural SC.  No one came forward to claim her and so she is in need of help.  Worthy Dog would love to help her find a forever home but need a committed foster or adopter to do so.
Bambi is described as a sweet girl . Her foster mom in SC shared this update:
"She is so sweet and loving.  She will barely leave my side to take a very short run and then comes right back for more loving.  She is not used to being indoors but is learning to come in and sit by me and relax.  She is friendly with other dogs, big and small, and has shown no interest in cats.
During the last hurricane, Bambi stayed in a crate in the house.  She was perfect.  No barking, no potty accidents, and would go out to be walked even in the storm.  This time I didn't have a crate so she is staying in my laundry room.  Again, no accidents and no barking!  She is always happy and easy going.  She is very shy in the house so just sticks close to me when she is brought into the living areas.  My yappy little dogs intimidate her, but she is trying to make friends.  She seems to love pretty much any animal or human.  She is so beautiful and sweet.  She needs a home of her own!
1 - Bambi
2 - She is sometimes in a kennel and sometimes in the house, but has had no accidents.  She stayed on my laundry room one night for over 12 hours and did not have an accident (while I was waiting for hurricane rain to slow down!)
3 - She has spent several nights in a crate and didn't make a sound or have an accident in the crate.  She goes in willingly.
4 - She is very hesitant to walk on a leash in a new place or indoors, but in a place where she is comfortable, she will tug on the leash until her excitement wears off.  Then she becomes a good leash walker.
5 - She is young, and she is very excited when I go to get her out of the kennel.  So she jumps around for a little while but then is quite calm and wants to stay by me even when she is off leash in the fenced yard.  She is usually mellow and very loving.  Loves to be snuggled and petted.
6 - Friendly with all people, seems to like cats and all other dogs.  My little yappy house dogs intimidate her, but she wants to make friends.  I don't think she has ever had toys, so she doesn't know how to play with them, or play fetch.  She is gentle and loving and happy to get attention and cuddles.  She is not a kisser.  I haven't really tried to teach her any commands, but she seems to be intelligent.
7 - She would probably adapt to any activity level, but she seems content in our quiet home.
8 - She is a good car rider, but has to be coaxed to get in.  I think she would hop in readily if she has a few more fun rides.  Right now, I think she would be scared to walk down a busy street, but she loves exploring the countryside.  She just hasn't had many experiences for seeing new things, so she is intimidated at first.  She seems to be happy to be indoors and in the presence of her humans.  Doesn't need a lot of entertainment.  She was a stray who came into our yard.  She seemed healthy and was friendly from the start.  I think she must have spent her life in a kennel or maybe on a chain, since she acted like she had never been in a house until I brought her in.  She just needs a little time to adjust to new surroundings.  She gains confidence quickly.
9 - She readily meets other dogs and cats in a non-threatening manner.  My four little house dogs bark at her, so she is a little scared of them.  She has not acted threatening in any way.
10 - I think Bambi would fit into almost any home.  Because she is fairly large and hasn't learned many indoor manners, she might accidentally knock over a small child or an unsteady older person if she gets too excited.  But I think once she settles into a routine with a new family, she would be gentle and well mannered with almost anyone.  Since she has spent all night in a crate or laundry room without making a sound, she might do well in an apartment, but would probably prefer having a fenced yard to explore.  And she would do well on a farm, also.  She is a beautiful and sweet girl!"
