Casey - ADOPTED!!'s story

Casey's dad adopted her when she was only 6 weeks old, and she's had only one home and owner her whole life. Her owner was an older gentleman who lived in an apartment and worked long hours (12 hours a day), which is not a good life for any dog, much less a young puppy. He loved Casey, but knew he was not giving her the life she deserved and reached out to Worthy Dog to help find her the right home.
Casey is a cuddly, affectionate, and submissive Boxer mix who is still just a puppy discovering the world around her. She has the lean, athletic body of a Boxer, the adorable underbite and ears of a bulldog, and the voice of a Hound. She absolutely loves people, wants to be connected with you, and will stay right by your side.  She considers herself a lapdog, and when you meet Casey she will try to crawl in your lap and then roll over on her back in total submission, hoping for a belly rub or playtime. Shes lived as an only dog, but is interested and curious about other dogs. A young, playful pup would be good match for her, but she would be fine as an only dog too. She is very focused on being with her person, and is eager to please.
Casey grew up in a condo and was leash walked for potty breaks every day. She still has puppy energy, and needs room to run around, and a more active home. She's crate trained and never has accidents in her crate. She's close to housetrained, but her fosters don't yet give her full trust or free roam of the home. She gets daily walks, and needs to go out 3 or 4 times a day, especially soon after meals or playtime. She walks OK on leash, but will sometimes still pull. She has not been barky at other dogs.
Her owner described Casey as a friendly dog who is warm to new people, and that's completely accurate. On transport day she was all kisses and wiggles for every person she met and enjoys when visitors come to her home.
Casey deserves someone who will love her, has time to spend with her, and will introduce her to an active, fun life. She's an playful dog whos barely out of puppy stage, and needs an owner who is committed to her daily exercise and playtime and will continue her basic training. She is very intelligent and learns fast. She would be great with kids 7+. She gets excited and will jump, but that is typical for a dog her age and can be easily corrected with training.

FOSTER UPDATE - 8/29/18
Casey has been in her foster home a week now, and is being fostered with 2 other large dogs. She has been great sharing toys, respecting boundaries, and integrating into her new pack, and would love another young dog playmate in her new home. She's getting daily walks in both quiet neighborhoods, and more urban walking areas. She's not reactive to other dogs on leash, but may bark at a stranger if she's in a new situation or uncertain. It's more of a warning bark, and will respond to correction. She is a fairly vocal pup, and will let you know when someone is passing by. She does great in the crate, and is 85%  housetrained, but her fosters keep her close by and don't trust her with free roam of the home yet.
Casey had little exposure to the outside world in her prior life, and initially she would bark when she heard a noise or saw a stranger on the street. Her foster parents have been taking her out every day on the Reston trails so she gets lots of interaction with other dogs, walkers, runners, bikers, and construction projects too. Shes come a long way in just a few weeks, and is a more confident dog now. Shes still learning how to greet strangers that come to the house, greeting them with a deep, howling bark that is surprising for such a cute, innocent looking pup.
Casey's foster mom reports:
"Casey had some nervous, excited puppy energy the first few days in our home, but after about 3 or 4 days, she has a much more relaxed, moderate energy. She's very sweet, and so cute to watch as she experiences new things. She still has the puppy expressiveness and innocence. She loves her people, and her favorite thing is to be curled up in your lap or laying next to you on the couch. Our dogs have come to accept her, and they are not an easy duo. She's very respectful of them and has good doggie energy. She still jumps a little and will try to counter surf, but we are working on her manners, and she's improving. She's learning to go to her mat, sit, and wait for food, and sit when she meets new people vs. jumping.
Casey is a young, energetic dog who really needs an owner who will commit to a daily regimen of exercise. She currently gets a long walk every morning, playtime in the backyard throughout the day, and hikes on the weekend. Shes crate and mostly house trained, but will have an occasional accident if you dont keep her on a schedule. She still has some puppy ways and likes to pick up and chew random things, or dig in her foster moms planters to pick out a tasty piece of mulch. She loves to chew on antlers and sticks, and when shes out in the yard, she prances and hops around with her favorite stick experiencing the pure joy of her new-found freedom.
Casey will be an amazing family dog, but because she's still a little jumpy, she's best with kids over 7 years old."
Casey is going to make some lucky family an incredible companion.
