Chili's story
Chili was adopted from a SC shelter back in early January by a couple who really didnt have time for a dog, and planned to return her. The sister of one of the adopters didnt want to see Chili go back to the shelter and took her in to foster her until a better solution could be found. Chili did well in the sister's home with two children, ages 3 and 8, but shes moving back to CA, and cant take Chili with her. She reached out to Worthy Dog for help, and we identified a local foster to take Chili in.
Chili is a young, playful pup who loves to romp around the yard, but also knows how to mellow out inside.  She walks well on leash and gets most of her exercise from daily walks around the neighborhood because she can hop the 3ft fence at her home.  She is crate trained, and will let you know when she needs to go out. She is a confident, social dog, but also very warm and snuggly with her family. She would prefer to sleep in bed with you, and loves being part of a family pack.
Her family shared that she loves ice, having her tummy rubbed, and playing tug of war. She likes bury her bones, and she has a toy monkey that she chews on and carries with her everywhere. Shes was great with the kids, and very gentle when taking treats, respectful of their space, and sits on command.

FOSTER MOM UPDATE - 11/9/18
Chili has been in her foster home a little over 2 weeks now, and her foster mom reports:
"Chilly Lily as we call her loves our Lab, Scout, wants to climb on him and kiss on him. He is a good sport about it. She shows interest in our cat and I think she would like to play with the cat, but the cat has no interest in being friends. She is an active young dog who likes to play, and we are working on not jumping on us when we come home...She's so excited to greet you. She walks well on a leash, but typically potties off leash in the backyard, she likes to hide behind a tree for privacy....lol.
She gets along fine with our kids, but my boys are older (14 yo) and not home a lot, so she is more focused on the adults for companionship. Chilly is a very snuggly dog and will curl up in your lap if you let her. She was initially shy, but after a few days is a pretty confident, friendly dog. She is crate trained and house trained. Her past owner said she would sometimes pee when excited, but we have not seen that...It may have been a puppy thing. We do still crate her for sleep at night, and the only accidents she's had have been overnight when we forgot to crate her.
Her owner told us she would jump their low fence, so we only took her out on leash for the first few days, then off leash the next few days, but stayed outside with her and if she got near fence said NO.  Now we can leave the back door open and she can come and go as she pleases.  She loves to stand on the back porch and bark with with other dogs, and doesn't try to escape.
We just had repairmen here and she stayed in the den and wouldn't approach them. So I guess she's still shy to newcomers. She's only been with us a week so she's still settling in. We have not taken her to a restaurant to socialize yet, but will do that this weekend if the weather is nice."
Chili's original shelter records as a puppy say she's a cattle dog mix...Her body shape is elegant and thin like a Whippet with longer legs and her coloring is almost beagle mixed with german Shepherd.  She' adorable and has very expressive ears.
